Update the Mass Bottle Bill

www.facebook.com/BottleBill
The Bottle Bill is the state’s most successful recycling and litter prevention program. Since the Bottle Bill's inception in 1983, over 30 billion containers have been redeemed, contributing to a healthier environment, cleaner and safer communities, and a stronger economy. But to keep up with the times and consumer’s tastes, the bottle bill must be updated. An Updated Bottle Bill would expand our container deposit system to include “new age” drinks such as non-carbonated beverages, water, iced tea, juice, and sports drinks. It would decrease litter - and increase recycling.

Ban Plastic Bags in MassBan Plastic Bags in Massachusetts

www.facebook.com/BanBagsinMA
Retailers love plastic bags – they’re cheap, easy to use, and take up very little space. They're so aerodynamic that even when properly disposed of, they still blow away and become litter. They easily escape from the garbage trucks, landfills, boats, and often average consumers’ hands. Not only a visible eyesore, plastic bags are dangerous to wildlife. They are often mistaken as food by marine mammals and seabirds. The United Nations estimates that plastic bags kill 1 billion animals per year . These animals suffer a painful death as the plastic wraps around their intestines or they choke to death.

Sen. Scott Brown voted to strip away clean air safeguards that protect our kids from asthma attacks and other health risks. When the nonpartisan League of Women Voters ran a TV ad highlighting his vote, Brown launched a media blitz attacking LWV and a fundraising campaign begging supporters to rush to his defense.
